Lyric Theatre

A stage for the spectacular

Sydney Lyric Theatre sets the scene for some of the world’s most iconic performances — from Hamilton and Phantom of the Opera, to Elton John and Stevie Wonder. Located within The Star entertainment precinct, it’s been a cornerstone of Sydney’s live theatre scene for over 15 years, welcoming Broadway blockbusters, chart-topping concerts and boundary-pushing ballet.

And while the curtain rises inside, the venue’s sustainability credentials are quietly at work behind the scenes. From energy-efficient lighting and water-saving fittings to thoughtful waste management and carbon-conscious operations, it’s a theatre experience that doesn’t cost the earth.

Dinner, drinks & drama

Make a night of it with pre-show dining just steps from the stage. Flying Fish champions seasonal Australian seafood with refined, elegant plates that let quality shine. Rumble brings a bolder flavour spectrum, serving South-East Asian dishes and a sharp pre-theatre set menu — plus happy hour every Wednesday to Friday from 4pm–6pm and 8pm till close.

Prefer something different? The Star also offers premium steakhouses, international buffets and casual favourites at the Food Court, so there’s something for every appetite (and curtain time).

Planning your visit

Getting to Sydney Lyric from Hotel Woolstore 1888 is easy — just a short 10–15 minute walk or a breezy ride on the light rail from Pyrmont Bay, with The Star station just two stops away.

Once inside, give yourself time to settle in. The doors open 30–60 minutes before showtime, and the licensed bars are the perfect spot for a pre-show sip. Note that only small bags (A4 or smaller) are permitted, with cloakroom services available if needed.

From the plush red seats and grand acoustics to thoughtful sustainability initiatives behind the curtain, this is a venue that balances drama with intention.

Check the Sydney Lyric website for current shows and upcoming seasons — then plan your perfect night from there.
